Dog Training in Milwaukee
Behavior-informed, enrichment-focused training for real life with your dog.
At Off Leash MKE, dog training isn’t about perfect obedience or “fixing” a dog. It’s about helping you and your dog feel more regulated, connected, and confident together—at home, on walks, and out in the world.
Our training programs blend positive reinforcement, decompression, enrichment, and clear communication, led by trainers who understand both behavior and nervous system health.
Our Training Philosophy
Fear Free & force-free – no pain, fear, or intimidation.
Nervous-system aware – over-arousal, shutdown, and reactivity are communication, not “stubbornness.”
Enrichment-first – we prioritize sniffing, movement, and agency, not just “sit” and “down.”
Relationship-centered – we coach you as much as we work with your dog.
Training is designed to support your real life: long days at the hospital, irregular schedules, busy family routines, and dogs who need a little extra help navigating the world.
Training Services
Private Training – In Your Home
Perfect for households that need support right where real life happens.
We work on things like:
puppy foundations and routines
polite greetings and door manners
leash skills around your neighborhood
handling sensitivities (harness, paws, collar, nails prep)
fear, anxiety, and building confidence indoors
multi-dog household dynamics
Sessions are 60 minutes and fully tailored to your dog, your home, and your schedule.
Private Training – At Our Indoor Dog Gym
For dogs who benefit from a neutral environment—or who need a little distance from home triggers.
At our indoor training space, we can:
introduce new skills in a controlled setting
practice leash skills without neighborhood overload
build confidence on equipment, surfaces, and novel environments
work through mild reactivity in a structured way
give dogs safe movement and decompression time when weather isn’t ideal
This is a great fit for adolescents, nervous dogs, and dogs who struggle outside the home.
Guided Training Walks & Adventure-Based Training
Walks and adventures are where most real-life training breakdowns happen—and where we can make the biggest impact.
Guided Training Walks combine:
long-line or standard leash skills
decompression-based walking (sniffing + structure)
reinforcement of engagement (check-ins, name response)
practice with real-world triggers at a safe distance
helping over-aroused or frustrated dogs move more calmly through the world
These can happen in your neighborhood or on local trails as part of our decompression-focused approach.
Puppy Foundations & Life Skills
For puppies under 1 year who need more than just “sit” and “stay.”
We focus on:
confidence-building and safe social exposure
problem-prevention (biting, jumping, mouthing, stealing, chewing)
handling and vet/groomer prep
alone-time practice and calm routines
leash introduction and long-line skills
integrating training with Puppy Adventure Club (if enrolled)
We’ll match you with the right mix of in-home sessions, indoor sessions, and adventure-based training depending on your puppy’s needs.
