We’re back with another Behind the Leash feature, where we introduce you to the amazing humans who make up our Off Leash MKE team! This month, we’re excited to introduce Kayla, who has been part of the Off Leash team for about a year. With nearly a decade of experience working with animals, Kayla brings a genuine love for getting to know each pet she works with—and she especially enjoys discovering all the unique personalities that come out as those relationships grow. Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how long you've been part of our team?
A: I’ve been working with animals for about 9 years now and have been with the Off Leash team for about a year! I have always been an animal person and love getting to meet new furry friends, so Off Leash has been a perfect fit for me!
Q: What do you appreciate most about working with Off Leash MKE?
A: I really enjoy getting to make connections with each and every dog I work with. I love getting to see all their personalities the more I get to know them! I also love working with such an amazing team. Everyone is super supportive and always willing to help out when needed!
Q: Do you have any pets of your own? If so, tell us about them.
A: I have two dogs! Patch is my longhaired Chihuahua, and I’ve had him since I was in high school. I also have Mordy, who I adopted about 6 years ago. He is a mutt from Afghanistan who has almost 20 different breeds in him!
Q: What are three things you ALWAYS bring with you on dog walks?
A: I always make sure to bring plenty of treats, my phone to get some cute pics, and at least two poop bag rolls—because you never want to run out!
Q: What's your go-to tip for clients looking to provide the best care for their pet?
A: Finding food and treats in your price range that have better ingredients is great for keeping your pup healthy! I usually try to find treats that are single ingredient or have very few ingredients to them.
Q: Are there any favorite dog parks or pet-friendly spots you recommend in our area?
A: I love any park that’s by the lake, but my favorites are South Shore Park or Sheridan Park! I also really enjoy going on the Nojoshing Trail during the spring when all the flowers are blooming.
Q: Besides working with animals, what are your hobbies or interests?
A: Some of my hobbies include playing video games, building Legos, and thrift shopping!
Kayla’s love for animals and her enthusiasm for getting to know each dog make her a wonderful part of the Off Leash MKE team. We’re so happy to have her on board and are excited for all the adventures still to come!
